Portraits
These are aiming to be a good likeness and to translate the 'essence' or character of the person, so that a good friend or family member would have no trouble recognising them. Again I mostly use charcoal as a painterly medium as I love its responsiveness. The cast of the head, the gaze, their current mood readable in their face, all food for interpretation, feed the work.
